I figured it would be better if you guys watch the Official Trailer first before reading what I have to say about the whole experience. My personal experience.

Now that you’ve watched the trailer (or not), if you’re really a Michael Jackson fan, this is one movie you cannot miss! Seriously, I teared in the movie yet at the same time the whole experience really put a smile on my face.

This man, Michael Joseph Jackson, is (was) a legend. The crowned King of Pop, to be honest, if you ask me, if he hadn’t passed away so suddenly, This is It is definitely gonna be his comeback.

This whole show, isn’t a documentary about Michael Jackson’s life. It is the whole footage of his rehearsals for the concert, the backstage clips, funny moments he shared with his dancers, the musicians, the directors, etc.

You can really see the amount of effort he had put into the whole rehearsals. The energy he had, it really got me pondering how on earth can he die so sudden? Well, regardless, he’s no longer with us, and definitely the world has lost one great, possibly the greatest ever pop star.

I really felt like standing up and dancing to the silver screen occasionally, lol. There’s this man seated infront of me, who can’t stop humming/singing to his songs, well I don’t blame him, because I was singing his songs silently too. =) Even the children acknowledges his greatness, there was this kid behind me, who was singing loudly to MJ’s Beat It!

For those of you who wished to catch it on the huge silver screens, do be quick about it, apparently it’s only gonna be in the cinemas for 2 weeks! =0

Hmm, I guess instead of mourning over his loss like the rest of the world, I would opt to rejoice at the fact that he lived! Rejoice at the fact that he had helped enlighten people throughout his work! Rejoice at the fact that his songs are so influential, it became a world phenomenon! Rejoice at the fact that, perhaps you and I have had the chance to grow up with his songs, to know such a legend existed. =)

Thank you, Michael Jackson. You’ll forever be the best in my heart!

P/S – well, if you insist on having movie ratings on the show, check it out here!

Yes, possibly one of the most anticipated films in October, Surrogates is finally here. With Bruce Willis leading the cast, I personally was very much waiting to watch it! =D well okay lah maybe because it being a sci-fi flick contributes to it, but well thats not the whole point, films with Bruce Willis in it are bound to hit BIG.

No, I’m not an avid Bruce Willis fan. I’m just stating the obvious. and I love action stuffs. =D

Anyway, Surrogates hit the big screens on Thursday, the 8th of October. Considering myself lucky, I actually managed to catch it in a jam-packed theatre in 1Utama GSC on Saturday.

I gotta say, this whole robot thing gives a completely new feel. It’s not your usual robot killing flicks or robot turning on their human counterparts and what not. Surrogates gives a whole new concept to films of such. I mean, well as far as I have recalled, robot films weren’t exactly done this way before, heh.

Surrogates as the film had translated it in Malay, “Pengganti” is exactly what it is trying to portray. In modern world where technological advancement is the primary criteria that defines human intelligence, Surrogates was created with the initial intention of helping the disabled live a normal life, but well I guess along the way, as long as you got the money, everyone can purchase one.

With the idea of you can be who you want, what you want, how handsome you want yourself to be, how hot and sexy, how tall, how buff, or even being the opposite gender, or even remaining young forever, everything is made possible with the creation of Surrogates. So I guess, being humans, most of the times we are complacent with our way of life, what more with these creations, life can be a breeze!

Okay if you guys are blurred, allow me to put in simple terms. Imagine operating yourself from home. Just stay “plugged-in”, and your Surrogate will be out there living your life, of course with full control from you, whose comfortably situated at home.

Sounds cool eh? But what if it became an addiction? =)

This is the story of Surrogates, of course with some murder plot in the middle, but you get the drift. Sounds interesting? It is! I’m giving it a two thumbs up! =D

Here’s the trailer for it, for those of you who haven’t catch the movie yet!

Yes, it is THAT Korean disaster movie that’s currently showing in most cinemas, be it TGV or GSC. For starters, to be honest, after watching Sinking in Japan few years back, I had serious skeptism about any disaster movies other than the western ones. So regarding the decision to watch Tsunami at Haeunday, it was only because I had free tickets to it.

And I didn’t regret watching it.

Okay to be fair, perhaps I said that because I didn’t have to pay for the ticket, haha. but regardless, it’s definitely not one of those movies that are a total waste of time! I would personally recommend the show, to those who are fans of disaster movies.

Probably the only critic I have for the movie is its CGIs. Some of it were rather too fake to begin with, but hey it was still fun to watch and something to laugh about!

I can tell from the movie, the director is a rather humourous man. Judging from the amount of humour he added into the movie, certain parts of the film were pure LOL! I never laughed continuously for that long in my life, it was one after another setting off a chain of laughter in the cinema. (Yes, the cinema was full! much to my surprise)

Aside from the humourous side, the film was after all about tsunami, and in catastrophic disasters like this, people die. Some die heroically, while some died against their will. In my opinion, the director knew which button to push in terms of sentimentalism. Certain scenes were really quite what you call, EMO. I wouldn’t spoil the parts for you, but I can assure you the sad parts are really… sad. =(

While the cast may not look appealing initially, but to be honest, I thought every single actor and actresses did really well. While the goofy looking stays goofy, and the macho ones stay macho, not to forget the hot chicks stay hot, it was really interesting to see how each and every individual portrayed their emotions to their very best!

It does reminds you of the tsunami incident back on the 26th of December, 2004. How so many lives were lost in the span of a few hours. The show takes off with a brief replay into 2004′s incident, though not all of it, and also from the Korean perspective, but it was understood the tsunami that hit Thailand, India, and also the shores of Penang Island was one that the world remembers.

Coupled with a few love stories in between, Tsunami at Haeundae is probably one of the better Asian disaster movies I have watched so far.

My conclusion? I think Korean disaster movies are better than Japanese disaster movies. The Japanese should just stick to horror. Lol!

You can read more about the movie here. [CONTAINS SPOILERS!]

I was quite skeptical about watching District 9 at first, but now that I have watched it, I can honestly tell you, ‘WOW! It took me by storm!’.

I mean, I watched the trailer beforehand, and I couldn’t really tell what the movie was about except its about aliens and another sci-fi movie. One thing caught my attention though, it was produced by Peter Jackson. Here’s the trailer for you to find out more about it.

Apparently District 9 is a big hit in the US, moving it past G.I. Joe and topping the US box office, so I guess there gotta be some truth in that. True enough, with only a budget of $30 Million, totally unknown actors and actresses, the movie turned out surprisingly good!

Storyline wise, I’m giving it two thumbs up. From the start as to how the movie build up till the end, my attention was deeply captured by the plot, which is ever so intriguing. I’m gonna diss Transformers 2 here again, it once again beats Transformers 2 storyline hands down. I mean, this movie only took $30M, and Transformers 2 took like what? $200M??

Okay, this movie.. can be a bit violent. Wait, scratch that, its gore is excessive! To be honest, the Malaysian Censorship Board took out none of those (except the part showing some alien feast). So yea, for guys, typically, be rest assured, you’re gonna go ‘OOOooooooohh shieeeettttttt!’ at many scenes. Since it is rated as 18-SG, parents might wanna take note what you might expose your children to.

This film kinda gives a very fresh feeling to alien movies once again, as I believe the alien movie plots were never once done like how District 9 portrayed it. Go watch it, and you will understand what I’m talking here. Can’t be revealing spoilers, can I? =D

Oh yea, thirst for alien weaponry? Name it, you’ve got it! Played Half Life before? Go figure. =D

Main actor, Sharlto Copley (Wikus): “I can haz Big Fat Alien Gunzz??”

All in all, I was pretty satisfied with it. I mean, having zero expectation on the movie, since I only decided to watch it because class ended at 11am and I didn’t want to go home that early, it really really surprised me. Peter Jackson can make wonders! I’m giving it a personal rating of 4.5/5.0!

Here’s the plot of the movie from Wikipedia. [SPOILERS ALERT!]

The film opens with a documentary-style series of interviews that explain events that occurred twenty years prior when an alien ship settled above Johannesburg, South Africa. After three months of speculation as to the ship’s purpose, humans cut their way in, discovering a large group of sick and malnourished non-humans. These beings were later assessed as being “workers”, with their leadership mysteriously missing. A command module later fell to Earth, although it was never found. The creatures, primarily referred to as “prawns”—a derogatory reference to the Parktown prawn, a king cricket species found in South Africa—were ultimately housed in a government camp inside Johannesburg. Overcrowding and militarization eventually turned the area into a slum known as District 9, and a massive black market was established between the aliens and a group of Nigerians. A private company known as Multi-National United (MNU), which specializes in weapons-use, eventually became in charge of the situation in District 9.

In present day, an MNU field operative named Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley) is assigned the task of relocating the 1.8 million aliens to a new “District 10″ camp located 240 km from Johannesburg, with help from private security forces working for MNU. While inspecting a suspicious alien residence, Wikus handles an alien device which sprays a dark liquid into his face. After confiscating the device as evidence, he soon becomes very sick; a doctor at a local hospital discovers his left arm has mutated into an alien appendage. Wikus is then taken into custody by MNU, and a series of tests are performed on him, revealing that his now-alien DNA allows him to operate alien weapons, which are useless to humans due to their integration with alien biology. The scientists intend to harvest Wikus’ DNA so as to replicate it to allow other humans to operate alien technology, but Wikus overpowers his captors and escapes.

Wikus seeks refuge in District 9, where he meets an alien given the name Christopher Johnson, who is the same alien who engineered the device that infected Wikus. This device is revealed to contain fuel that Christopher had scavenged from various alien artifacts scattered around District 9. Although initially hostile towards Wikus, Christopher eventually agrees to help him reverse the genetic transformation if Wikus will retrieve the fuel from MNU labs. Christopher promises to undo the mutation by getting Wikus aboard the mother ship, and shows Wikus the ship’s missing command module, which has been hidden under his shack.

While attempting to buy some alien weaponry from the Nigerian gang, Wikus is seized by the paralysed Obesandjo’s henchmen in an attempt to gain Wikus’ ability to work the weapons. He escapes taking some alien weaponry with him, and with Christopher’s help, breaks into MNU and successfully retrieves the fuel sample. Wikus and Christopher fight their way back to District 9 and Christopher begins preparations to leave. Christopher then tells Wikus that he must first return to his home world to seek help for his people before he can cure Wikus, a process that would take about three years. Frustrated, Wikus knocks Christopher unconscious and powers up the command module with the help of Christopher’s young son. Shortly after Wikus lifts off, the MNU mercenaries destroy one of the command module’s engines with a rocket, causing it to crash land back into District 9.

Wikus is then captured by MNU and a battle between the MNU mercenaries and Obesandjo’s gang breaks out. After a protracted firefight, the Nigerians capture Wikus and prepare to remove his arm. Before they are able to, Christopher’s son activates the mother ship, as well as a mechanized battle suit which autonomously slaughters Obesandjo and his men. After entering the alien battle suit, Wikus rescues Christopher from being killed by MNU mercenaries. In the following battle, overwhelmed by the MNU, Wikus talks Christopher into returning to the ship without him while he creates a diversion. Christopher promises Wikus that he will return in three years to repair his body. Christopher then boards the command module and activates a tractor beam which returns the command module to the mother ship. Heavily wounded, Wikus is ejected from the damaged suit and is quickly caught by the leader (and sole survivor) of the MNU squad. Before he can be killed, however, aliens burst out of the surrounding slums and dismember the mercenary.

The mother ship leaves Johannesburg’s sky for the first time in two decades, and the townspeople cheer in response. The film concludes with another series of interviews and news broadcasts, providing human opinions on the events that unfolded. The aliens are successfully moved to District 10, which is said to have a population of 2.5 million and growing. One of Wikus’ coworkers hacks MNU’s database and publicly exposes their illegal genetic experiments. People theorize about Wikus’ fate; some believe that he left on the mother ship, while others believe he is in hiding, or perhaps captured by the government. It is also hypothesized that the aliens might return and declare war on humanity. A scene with Wikus’ wife reveals that a small metal flower was left on her doorstep, which she muses may have been a gift from Wikus, who had a penchant for handmade gifts. In the final scene, an alien with a bandaged left arm is shown in a junk yard fashioning a flower out of scrap metal.

Now if you trust my opinion, go ahead and indulge in District 9!

Now, if you’re one who adores and and is a sucker for action films, it’s actually quite impossible you will miss out on the already screening in cinemas nationwide near you, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra!

For those who has yet to catch the film, and you know you love these movies (like Transformers and so on), I just have three words for you. G.I. Joe: TRoC “exceeds all expectations”! I have watched it, and I gotta say, I was pretty satisfied with the whole movie, indeed the RM9 (student card price) spent was well worth my time!

I dare say, its even better than Transformers 2: The Rise of the Fallen. You gotta trust me on that!

The explosive, the technology, the arsenals, the ninja fights, the dangerous stunts, the hot chicks, etc. Hey it has everything a typical guy loves to watch man!

Yea, hot chick like Sienna Miller (Ana, the Baronness). I likes!

I personally was awed by the amazing technology used throughout the whole film! Stuffs like nanotech weaponries, pulse guns, accelerator suits (say what??), underwater command centre, etc. I mean, no point for me telling you how excited I was throughout the whole film, you gotta watch it to understand man! xD

Man, and the scenes in France was plain epic! I was totally blown away by the non-stop thrilling action sequences that really got me on my toes, haha! I’m serious! Not to mention, the humour. Yea, lots of humour were added, so you can expect the show to be pretty entertaining on and off!

Perhaps the only thing that you can complain about the whole show is that, certain stuffs got omitted, and they didn’t really explain everything in details, just bits and parcel of things here and there, but hey, compared to Transformers 2, G.I Joe: TRoC actually makes sense! Now that’s to you hard core G.I Joe fans who knows everything about the cartoon!

Now that G.I. Joe showed us how nanotech warfare looks like, it does leave us to ponder about so many ‘What if’ questions. For all we know, the United States of America already possess such advanced weaponry. Dang, now I can truly say the world is gonna end if all hell breaks loose with all these nanotech nonsense~!

Anyway, for those who have no idea what’s the show is all about, don’t worry, I have the whole idea of the show here.

[SPOILERS ALERT, SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK]

In the near future, weapons expert James McCullen (Christopher Eccleston) has created a nanotechnology-based weapon capable of destroying an entire city. His company MARS sells four warheads to NATO, and the U.S. Army is tasked with delivering the warheads. Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) are delivering the warheads when they are ambushed by the Baroness (Sienna Miller), who Duke recognized to be his fiancee Ana Lewis. Duke and Ripcord are rescued by Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). They take the warheads to The Pit, G.I. Joe’s command center in North Africa, and upon arriving rendezvous with General Hawk (Dennis Quaid), the head of the G.I. Joe Team. Hawk takes command of the war-heads and excuses Duke and Ripcord, only to be convinced to have them join his group after Duke reveals that he knows the Baroness.

McCullen is revealed to be using the same nanotechnology to build an army of soldiers with the aid of the Doctor (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), planing on using the warheads to bring panic and bring about a new world order. Using a tracking device, McCullen locates the G.I. Joe base and sends Storm Shadow (Lee Byung-hun) and the Baroness to retrieve the warheads with assistance from Zartan (Arnold Vosloo), inflicting casualties on several G.I. Joe soldiers. After a fight, Storm Shadow and the Baroness retrieve the warheads and take them to Baron DeCobray, the Baroness’s husband, for him to weaponize and use them to destroy the Eiffel Tower to serve as a showing of the warhead’s destructive power. Making their way to Paris, the Joes pursue them through the streets but are unsuccessful in stopping them from launching the missile. Duke manages to hit the kill switch, but in doing so he is captured and taken to McCullen’s base under the Arctic.

G.I. Joe locates the secret base and fly there as McCullen loads three missiles with nano-mite warheads. After Snake Eyes takes out one, Ripcord pursues the remaining missiles in a prototype Night Raven jet while Scarlett and her group infiltrate the base. While Scarlett and Snake Eyes attempt to shut down the Arctic base, with Heavy Duty leading an attack on Cobra’s forces, Duke learns that the Doctor is Rex Lewis, Ana’s brother believed to have been killed on a mission led by Duke four years ago. He was trapped in a bunker with Doctor Mindbender (Kevin O’Connor), disfigured in the blast which everyone presumed had killed him. The Baroness tries to free Duke but the Doctor reveals he has implanted her with nano-mites which has put her under his control for the past four years, admitting his amazement that she is resisting the programming. Attempting to kill Duke, McCullen ends up being facially burned as he flees with Rex to an escape vessel. Duke and the Baroness pursue him while the Joes fall back when Rex activated the base’s self destruct sequence.

Rex then heals McCullen’s burned face with nano-mites, encasing it in silver as he christens McCullen “Destro” and assumes the identity of Cobra Commander before they are captured by G.I. Joe soon after. On board the supercarrier USS Flagg, Baroness is placed in protective custody until they can remove the nano-mites from her body. Meanwhile, Zartan, having been earlier operated on by Rex, infiltrates the White House during the missile crisis and assumes the identity of the President of the United States (Jonathan Pryce).

Don’t say I didn’t warn you about spoilers when you go yelling, “WHAT THE HECK NOW I KNOW THE WHOLE SHOW WITHOUT EVEN WATCHING IT!” Blame yourself, lol!
