Dear readers, do you know how important is blood donation? You will never know just a pack of blood which is less than a little will save a life. You will never know just a blood donation will bring joy to a family.

I myself did blood donation once on February 2009. Well, i did that because my sister admitted to hospital and needed 4 pack of platelet blood. A nurse gave us a brouchers for blood donation and would like us to refill the blood bank. So, without think twice, i also would like my blood can save someone’s life as well.

It is my first time for blood donation, but i feel nothing maybe because my sister case at that time had been dominate my mind and nothing else is more important than that.

Anyway, i still manage to took a few picture of the process. First thing u need to do during blood donation is – RELAXS.

Lay down and relax yourselves.

The doctor will first check what type of blood is yours and only start the whole process and here how it looks like.

The blood pressure measuring.

Before

And during.

Then after. Hope this pack of blood can save someone out there.

Dear readers, my next blood donation will be on 4th November, when is your first blood donation going to be? Or when is your next blood donation will be? Go for blood donation if you can, you never know you may save someone’s life.

A bitter gourd – taken from http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/asiansquash-bittermelon.jpg.

First, prepare 2 small bitter gourds, 2 tea spoons of honey and 1 tea spoon of mineral water. Remember to use small bitter gourd, not the big and long type. I will advice you to get an organic bitter gourd because the organic type is not as bitter as the generic ones. That is, unless you like the taste of bitterness.

Then, slice it into half and use a spoon to dig the seeds out. You will have a shape like a boat.

After that, cut it into many thin slices and put it into a cup. Put 2 tea spoons of honey and 1 tea spoon of mineral water into the same cup. Stir it well and make sure it is well mixed.

When done, the mixture is ready to be blended. The bitter gourd juice is ready to be served.

It will not be easy to drink it as it is very bitter. I drank it before and I know the taste.

To all ITP patients, my sister who had ITP drank this twice a day for 4 months till today. Her platelet count is maintaining at 200K and above without fail. I hope this recipe can help any of you who has a relative or friend with ITP. God bless.

Any questions please feel free to leave a comment.

I was 7 when i first sat on the passenger sit. I was 15 when i first sat on the driver sit. I was 15 too when i first drive the car. It give me a prefect freedom when i am on it. If toilet cant help me to release my stress, it help’s me. It is my first car. It is Proton Tiara.

Proton Tiara

Tiara accompany me since my first year of primary school and tomorrow, after 13 years of staying together, it is time to say goodbye.

I always remember the first time i sat on the driver sit. I press on the cluth, then put in to the first gear, i thought i can drive that time and let go the cluth. After less than a second, the car is died. The next thing i do is take out the car key and pretend nothing happen at all. 2 weeks later after analysing my mom drive, i am again on to the driver sit. But this time, my dad is beside me and since then i learn how to drive.

My dad sit beside me everytime i drive until form 4, after that i start to drive alone around my housing area, sometimes to release my tension, sometimes are just enjoying the fun of it.

I thought i can keep Tiara atleast until i am graduate from Degree or Master because i wish to earn some money to modified it. Then, i will be one of the few person in this world to modified a tiara. I even thought of the design and the engine as well that i would like to modified. Well, it seems it will never happen.

Tiara

Tiara had give some problem for the past few months and my mom are grumping about it all the time. My tiara had a common problem which is water overheat. I try to drive as smooth as possible, check the water level from time to time, but the mechanic told me that there are some cracks in the engine oil’s tank and now the engine oil mix with the water. If want to fix everything, it will cost around RM800. My mom then said buy a proton car so that Tiara can use for the RM5000 rebate from Proton company.

So now Exora and Saga are under consideration, but 1 thing for sure is, Tiara will not be back. I will not have car for a month, so i will start to take bus to college and have a 20 minutes walk to pyramid before that.

Proton Tiara, i will going to miss you.
Goodbye Tiara, you have been the one for me.

Ladies and Gentleman, my sister have this ITP which i do not know consider it as a disease or a virus. Anyway, because of this ITP, my sister platelet count had been drop to only 2k in 4 months ago. We try out all type of ways, papaya leaf, beetroot, acupuncture and all kind of western and eastern medical method.

The platelet count did increase a bit but it had been up and down at the range between 20 to 50k. Around 1 and a half month ago, an ITP patient call up my mom and said her platelet count had increase to 220k and it had maintain for 2 weeks. She said this happen after she started to eat small bitter gourd and she also ask my sister to try out.

At this stage, friendly speaking we have nothing to lose and give it a try. My sis start to eat 4 small bitter gourd a day. 2 in the morning and 2 after dinner. After less than a week, my sister went for a blood test. Amazingly it had raise to 168k and since then it raise to 260k and now its still maintain at above 200k which it is a perfect good news for the whole family.

I would not say this is 100% can cure ITP or increase the platelet count cause the doctor also said it is all depends on individual. Some may help, some would not. Anyway, this small vegetable had really increase my sister’s platelet count.

Hopefully my sister’s platelet count can continue maintain more than 200k and for anyone who having low platelet count, i really hope that this can help you.

To eat this small vegetable, first is cut it into 2 pieces, then use a spoon to take out the seeds. Put it inside a blender and blend it until it become watery. Put some honey inside as well so that it would be easier to drink.

Best of luck, god bless.

17th of February, 2009, something which never come across my mind happen, my sister admit to hospital.

During the Chinese New Year, my sister had a large bruise on her right knee but it cured after a few days, so no one suspect anything from it. However on the Valentine Day, her leg started to have some red dots and it loos like some kind of allergy my dad immediately brought her to the clinic, doctor said is best to have a blood test.

On 17th February, after school, my mom brought her to Sunway Hospital for the blood test. I was prepared to have a afternoon nap that time and get a called from my mom. Her voice was very nervous and said: “Kuan, come to Sunway Hospital Emergency Ward now, mei mei (sister) admit to hospital cause of very low platelet count, faster come accompany her. ”

I had a bad feeling after the call and without think much i am on my way to Sunway Hospital. My sister was crying on the bed and my mom is trying to console her while i reach there. I try to stay calm that time and act like there’s nothing serious happen.

After talking to my sister and see her feeling better, i went to the doctor personally and asked for a full picture of what’s happening. The doctor stand very calm and said: ” She has a very low count of platelet and the number is 5″.

I do not know what is the number 5 means, i asked a question and the answer really frighten me off. A healthy person will have the number between 400 to 500. This mean that my sister only have 1% of platelet compare to a normal people. Based on what i learn from Biology, lack of platelet means the blood will not stop bleeding and it is dangerous if there’s any internal bleeding inside. Reason of lack of platelet = leukemia, virus or bacteria attack.

I mention all this to doctor and asked for possibility, he said the percentage of leukemia is only 1%, however bone narrow test is still need to proceed for confirmation to it. My mom was panic that time, sister is crying because of do not know what is going on with her and what will happen to her, my dad was stuck in the jam in KL, and for me, with knowing everything, i have to stay calm and smile to my mom and sister to console them. I even create my own story to my sister and make a lie about her sickness to make her feel better. That was tough especially after knowing the whole picture.

Around 6pm, at last my dad arrived. The doctor later gave my sister 4 pack of platelet and hope it will boost up the number. My sister then sent to ICU and she have to lay on the bed with complete rest, she even not allowed to come down from the bed for anything.

The bone narrow test is out few hours after the test, in a sudden i feel my shoulder had lighten after knowing she is free from leukemia and there’s also some improvement from the latest blood test report.

My sister had discharge after 3 nights there, but she still have to take steroid and some other medicines and a blood test every 7 days. Doctor had explained that she need 6 months to push back the platelet to a normal people, so during this period, she is not allowed to do much activities and have to stay rest at home.

Thanks god, she is in a stable condition and showing some good sign already. The first day was tough and i almost break down while i was alone at a corner.

Before i end this, i would like to say thanks a lot to all my relative and friends that gave me moral support that time, it really helps and i really appreciate it a lot. Thank you guys.

I received a call from Sarven 3 weeks ago, which was before last year Christmas. He mentioned about a prefect’s camp which will be held in school on 9th to 11th January 2009. I did not think much about it and agreed to help the school with camp. Well, my main purpose was just to meet some old friends.

We had our first meeting at Tanjung, USJ9. From my batch were only me and Pui Mun, the seniors Kunil and Kabilan, along with the form 5s this year. We discussed about the activites and things that need to be prepared for the camp. Nothing much basically as we will have another meeting after new year.

The second metting was held at Tanjung on 2nd January. This time, it was attended by the same group of people in addition to Da Wei, Bryan and Vern Chien. All details wwere discussed except the activities. The activities were discussed on the 3rd of January in Papparich, Taipan.

The main reason why only now I’m posting this is to keep the meetings a secret and to not let any participants know that we are the facilitators. Here are some pictures of the first meeting.

Unknown : Are you Kok Kuan?

Me: Yes, may i know who is it?

Unknown : I am teacher Zhang Jian Wen.

The name is very familiar and there i remember, he is my standard 4 Kajian Tempatan teacher (how to say kajian tempatan in English?) .

The last time we meet was during the end of standard 4. So to calculate, we did not meet each other for around 9 years. What a wow. He leave the school after that year because of some reason and a few friends with me had post mails to him, but it did not last long and lost contact after a few months.

He recently meet one of my primary classmate in a primary school in Puchong and from there he get my phone number. He called me after the sms and we have a 15 minutes chat and the whole conversation was quite fun, happy and funny in the same time. Hard to describe how i feel because i actually cant recall how he looks like, and he is my teacher. But it is great to hear from him too.

Anyway, he is just 31 years old now and yeah, he was very young when he is teaching my class. He told me that he would like to contact back all his students that are close with him that time to have a gathering and i am really looking forward to it. I am still wondering how he looks like.

Ok, thats all for now, I am actually having my exam month which just left only 1 more paper on 6 December. By the way, today exam was one of toughest since my college life started. Take care everyone.

How big exactly is Macau? Well, Hong Kong is 40 times bigger than Macau. Can you believe it? Hong Kong is already small but Macau, 40 times smaller than that! I had a half day tour in Macau. It was enough to visit the whole of Macau.

I guess everyone who goes to Macau visits the same place. A Chinese temple, the church that was left by the Portuguese and famous casinos such as The Venetian and Sands. Not to forget Portuguese Tarts. They are great to try.

I guess everyone who goes to Macau visits the same place. A Chinese temple, the church that was left by the Portuguese and famous casinos such as The Venetian and Sands. Not to forget Portuguese Tarts. They are great to try.

Before arriving at Macau, I thought Macau was a messy country because of that bad impression given by some movies which depicts Macau as a country fit only for gambling. However, once I reached the Macau Harbour, I took back my thoughts (The port is much more better than Port Klang). Besides that, the structure of the buildings were very special and all of it were casinos. (Macau has more than 30 casino)

The feeling that Macau gives is something like Malacca. Maybe because both of them were under the Portuguese control sometime in the past. There was a road by the name of “Road of Malaca”.

See the camera man with a reporter? They made a small survey about China on me but I do not know whether I will be in the China news. Hehe

After visiting Macau, I went back to Hong Kong for a night. I met up with Ivan Kow, my secondary school classmate. He has been in Hong Kong for around 2 months to continue his studies. He is healthy there. We explored the local food in Mongkok and alsoTsin Sha Tsui to have a nice view of Central. Then, we took the cheapest transport in Hong Kong – the ferry to travel from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central which only costs 2.20HKD.

The Venetian

The third day was free and easy. However, we had to be at Macau harbor at 4pm to meet our tour guide whom will bring us to our hotel. The journey from Hong Kong to Macau lasted an hour. The journey from Hong Kong to Macau lasted an hour. We left our relative’s house at 1.30pm and made our way to Macau. The ferry was very convenience. Ferry frequency is one trip per half an hour.

The tour guide was late for 40 minutes. Luckily, we called the company or we would have went to the hotel ourselves.

I was told by Wei Ling that The Venetian is a very beautiful hotel with casino inside but too bad, that’s not the hotel that I am going to stay overnight. We check in to a hotel call Hotel Taipa Macau, which is quite near from The Venetian.

After settling down, we went out for dinner and then The Venetian. The Venetian was really nice and much better than what I had expected. Even their toilet was one of a kind. Hehe.

The passage to casino

The Venetian, is not just a hotel and casino. They also have a food court and a place to shop. People who love branded stuff will fall in love with that place. For someone who doesn’t know much about branded things like me, fret not. You will definitely enjoy the environment. The shopping section is located behind the casino. We have to walk past the casino before reaching there.

The style in the shopping session was something new to me. The first word which came out from my mouth was ”WOW”. Here’s a few pictures of it.

Have a ride?

If people ask how do you feel about Sunway Pyramid’s toilet, I would say – stylish.
If people ask how do you feel about The Venetian’s toilet, I would say – handsome.

I don’t know about everyone but this was the first time I saw an autosoap. Autowater has been introduced in Malaysia a long time ago. This autosoap made me feel as though as I have never been into the toilet before. Lol.

Autosoap

Anyone seen a curved elevator before? This was my first time too. It amazed me.

A Curve Elevator

The minimum age to enter a casino in Macau is 18 years old. This means that I am legal to enter the premises. Haha. People over there gamble very big in each game. The minimum bet is 100 Hong Kong Dollars (HKD). It is weird because the casinos in Macau prefer HKD more than their own currency. I saw a slot machine and sat down for 45 minutes. I lost 20 HKD man. People lose money in casinos because they do not leave the game with their spoils. They usually will only leave the game if they do not have time or after they lost all of their capital. Why? It is because humans are greedy. I experienced that too. I won around 60 HKD but I stayed on and lost 20 HKD in the end.

Morale of the story is – gambling is just for fun, not to win money:)
