My First Laptop!

Daily Ramblings — By Christopher on January 31, 2010 at 11:14 PM

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! A box from dell for me? I wonder what could it be! Pfft. Of course I know what it was. My parents paid for it! And it is not like I woke up in the morning and found it lying on the floor. I had to wait between 9 AM to 2 PM (as per the SMS) for the deliveryman. The deliveryman was a nice guy (for the record). I was expecting a Dell lorry to arrive but the package came via SkyNet. I wonder what is in the box? In case you didn’t read the title…. it’s my laptop! Not just any laptop, but my very first laptop! WEEE :D

In case you were wondering on which day the laptop came, it came on Wednesday. I don’t think the picture above has much significance but you have no choice. Muhhahaha :D Seals to the box came in intact and there were no signs of damage or “blunt trauma” on the box :D . We’re ready to unbox the machine!!

Guess what! Inside the box was another box! The laptop came with its own carry box! Sweet! I wonder whether you get the same stuffs if you buy a non-XPS model. Oh wait, the box clearly says, studio XPS. Ha ha :D Here we go, bring out the monster!

I’m only interested with the i7 chip and the 4gb of RAM. Just nice for my photoshop work and possibly computing and drawings. WOOT! :D

I was wondering whether it will be worth to buy an i7 laptop now as from what i heard, the system is still not stable yet. anyway ,congrats on the purchase but i think an iPad is the future. hehe.

to yeo yao siang, is it possible to update my MBP hard disc to an SSD 1 ? do we need to go back to an apple shop or can do it by ur own? tq

  • Christopher says:

I do agree that the iPad is the future for WEB BROWSING and EMAIL but for precision work like AUTOCAD and even GAMING, I think having a keyboard and mouse still wins. :D I haven’t heard anything about the system not being stable personally.. I guess time will tell .. Thank you for your feedback :D

Anwar: You can upgrade the HDD to SSD by yourself since there is no warranty seals on the MBP. However in any event that you need to send the MBP back to Apple for repair, it is wiser to swap the SSD back to HDD. The reason being Apple not accepting non-Apple certified hard drive.
