Assam Laksa Near Kek Lok Si Temple

So, you’ve decided to visit the Kek Lok Si Temple in Penang for certain reasons – to offer prayers, to buy “branded” goods for cheap, to buy “fake feces” or just to have a look see. Parking at the temple is RM2 for the whole day, if you need to know. At the bottom of the temple are shop houses, houses and even a market! Well, people can choose to live near the temple can’t they? Shop houses pish, houses posh. :D You might only be interested to have a look at the market? Why? It is “rumoured” to have one of the best and cheapest Assam Laksa you can ever find!

For RM 2.70 (I hope I remembered it correctly) a bowl, you get a generous amount of noodles and (smashed?) sardine. The soup taste just nice. Not too hot and not too bland. I have to say this is the first time I could eat a bowl of Assam Laksa without opening the “floodgates”. Oh wait, perhaps I developed a resistance to spicy food over the years! The serving is also just nice. However, hygiene is questionable – as usual. But as the saying goes, the dirties of places serves the best food (I don’t hold responsibility for this!). :D Give it a 3/5.
