How to prepare Bitter Gourd juice (for ITP patient)
Health — By Kok Kuan on October 5, 2009 at 12:00 AMMy sister had ITP beginning of year 2009. Her platelet count is now stable and maintains above 200k for the past 5 months.

A bitter gourd – taken from http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/asiansquash-bittermelon.jpg.
First, prepare 2 small bitter gourds, 2 tea spoons of honey and 1 tea spoon of mineral water. Remember to use small bitter gourd, not the big and long type. I will advice you to get an organic bitter gourd because the organic type is not as bitter as the generic ones. That is, unless you like the taste of bitterness.
Then, slice it into half and use a spoon to dig the seeds out. You will have a shape like a boat.
After that, cut it into many thin slices and put it into a cup. Put 2 tea spoons of honey and 1 tea spoon of mineral water into the same cup. Stir it well and make sure it is well mixed.
When done, the mixture is ready to be blended. The bitter gourd juice is ready to be served.
It will not be easy to drink it as it is very bitter. I drank it before and I know the taste.
To all ITP patients, my sister who had ITP drank this twice a day for 4 months till today. Her platelet count is maintaining at 200K and above without fail. I hope this recipe can help any of you who has a relative or friend with ITP. God bless.
Any questions please feel free to leave a comment.

I don’t quite understand your posting. Please clarify, did your sister “drink” 2 small bitter melons 2 times a day. How many teaspoons of the mixture did she drink each day? Thank-you.
Hi Jay,
I believe Kok Kuan meant that his sister drank a serving (2 small bitter melons) twice a day. Which means, 4 small bitter melons in total in a day.
Hope it helps.
Thank you.
Sorry a very late reply, hi Jay, Chris is right, my sis drink a total 4 small bitter melons a day. Now she had reduce to 2 small bitter melon a day because her platelet count is stable for the past 5 months. Hope this can help u.
how did you find out about this??..and how soon does it work?
My dad is in the hospital now,,just had his spleen removed..and still his white blood cell count is going down!!..Please help!!
Where can i buy some of this stuff?..and can you use the pill form??
thanks!
Becky
Dear Becky,
The bitter gourd juice supposedly boosts platelet count. I’m not so sure about it helping with the white blood cell count… At any rate, you can get it at any supermarket or fresh market. If you are in the US, I believe they call it the bitter melon… =]
Please get your doctor’s advice before taking any action.
Thank you.
does the pill form work just as well??
they cant get my dads count over 4ks,,they already tried whinro and nplate…how much of the pill form would he have to take?
Dear becky,
I never heard before any pill for this, the bitter gourd juice that i mention is fully home made. If u found any pills form, is best to ask for your doctor’s advice first. Sorry cant help you much in this.
Take care.

Her case is drastic.9 months ago she even had a cerebral hemorrage, she is better now but her plts are very very low 8k(8000 mm2), she is taking steroids since she got ill but the fact is that we are in Albania and we have never heard of this vegetable. Which family does it belong, the one of melons? where can we find and bye them, please help us, if we do not raise her plts, she may have another crisis.
God blesses you Kok kuan, for giving us hope, but where can we find, please, does it have another name where we can buy it in albania? Please answer me
Hi Marinela,
Kok Kuan is currently busy with his studies. But I might be able to help you.
Bitter Gourd is known by other names such as Bitter Melon.
Here is a wikipedia link of it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitter_melon
It is commonly sold at Asian markets.
hi. I am really hopeful now that i read all of your comments and the positive results of bitter melon.my mum is so happy that there is a chance for her to live.as i said her life is in great danger.we do not have asian markets.but we have an italian one.what is its name in italian,if you could possibly tell me.if not can you post some of them to me here in albania, and i can pay you back for it.we are desperate.this is her last chance to live and not get a 2nd hemorrage in the brain and get paralysed again.please help me,i need an answer..god bless you
Hey Marinela,
I did some lookup and found some names that an Italian would call it.
https://rirdc.infoservices.com.au/downloads/02-134.pdf
They are balsamini lunghi, caranza, pomo balsamo or vite indiana in Italian. (Note that they are different variants of Bitter Melons)
Sorry but I don’t think I can post it over to Albania. The bitter melons would arrive rotten if I send it from where I am.
God bless you
Hello. If you can not post me the vegetables could you at least post me the seeds of , i do not think they could arrive rotten. Do the pills or the tea of bitter melon work as well. I can get them post from America, on line, i have no other choice if you do not post the seeds to me. Please help

Marinela
Hi Marinela,

Hi Christopher
My mom vanished yesterday, we sent her to hospital. i am terrified that her cerebral hemorrhage would repeat once again, yesterday it was just a little crisis, i do not know if i will see her tomorrow. Please advice me what to do. O god I need desperately bitter melon to save her… i can not find it, i am desperate
Hi Marinela,
Is best for you to get the bitter melon as soon as possible, i am not sure is the seeds of the bitter melon useful or not but you can give it a try. God bless you and your mom Marinela.
Does anywhere near your place have wet market or vegetable market? As for me in Malaysia i bought the bitter melon from an organic shop. Hope this can help u.
Hello Kok kuan
Thanks for your answer. It means a lot to me.I asked in all of the vegetable shops for bitter melon. They do not know it here in Albania. I do not know what else to do for her. I can not find it. Any way I am asking help to all of the people who read this message and can help me with some bitter melon as a vegetable, as pills or juice,or seeds i can plant here in Albania. Any one who is able to help me and post this stuff in my home address:I can give you the money back through DHL or Western Union. The vegetable would be better and has an immediate result but under these conditions I can accept anything, even pills, or whatever.
God bless you all

Hi to all of you. My mom has been using bitter melon alternatively as pills and as a vegetable when we could import it from Greece. Her plts have changed from 80 to 110 150 and have fallen a little bit down. This is ok for her as she was dying because of that 2 years ago. She had a cerebral paralysis so we are glad to keep her alive like this. I only hope the bitter melon will function forever. I am sure it will help all of you in this blog. It helped us why not you guys? It was kind of a miracle that i Found this post only a few days after my mom had her third crisis. She is leading a normal life now, she does the house works, cooks and walks which is the most important thing after her paralysis.
God blesses you all especially Kok Kuan
Hi kok kuan! Is your sister still on bitter gourd juice or not? has it still maintained her platelet count to normal levels?
Thanks for some other informative web site. Where else may just I get that kind of info written in such a perfect method? I have a project that I am just now operating on, and I’ve been on the look out for such info.
