Welcome to My Life! [Epi. 2]

Have I mentioned that I almost quit CAT back then? Yea, guess I missed out that part on the previous episode.

It was 6 months into the course, and well for every CAT/ACCA students, finals should be upon us and we should be preparing for it. I freaked out that time. Yes I admit it. Since it was the first external examinations for us, and the thought of resitting 6 months later if ever we failed any papers kinda took a toll on me.

Hence, the idea of quitting slips in, I actually thought of pulling out from CAT and register in Metropolitan after that. I even collected the withdrawal form from the admin, haha. Well, I’m not afraid to look back now and breathe a sigh of relief, that in the end I persevered.

And it was all thanks to Ms. Geetha. Yeap, now you get why she and I became close friends. She called me up after I told her my intentions of quitting and she talked some sense in me. She knew what was my problem and I was brave to acknowledge it, so yea thank God for her presence in my life!

Haha, till today, she’s been telling everyone how proud is she of me. Gosh, now that’s embarassing!

Last episode we stopped at the part that, Jon, our class rep then had organised a class trip to Sungkai Hot Springs, or rather some people know it as Sungai Klah.

Oh boy it was pure fun! Well, looking back now, most of us have definitely grew much. =)

We had to sleep in tents though, but it was an experience worth trying. “Camping” with your close friends with a hot spring within foot steps, besides the place really reminds me of a natural paradise!

I remembered everyone was at least tossed into the water once. Haha! Yea I was tossed too -.-” it was a forced one of course! HAHA! It began with Jon being tossed into the water, then we turned to each and everyone else!

We even had a BBQ pit to ourselves, and many thanks to both Ming Ting and Wai Yin for preparing the food, we found ourselves digging into a really scrumptious dinner!

During nightfall, I remember being with Chun Hoe and Edmund, where we had some guy talks in one of those nearby mini hot spring ponds. Chun Hoe may have a small head, literally, but that guy is actually quite the wise one. Despite being a former state swimmer, his ideas, ranging from setting up of businesses, to politics, to sports can be really bizarre sometimes.

Chun Hoe’s the one on the left, if you guys forgot who Edmund was, heh. We became quite the best friends fast. Well, couldn’t really say the same now since we have kinda drifted apart, given the many scenarios in between.

James and Seh Yung even gave us a short performance after dinner. Our own mini talent night, like those we experienced during prefect camps back then. It was pretty funny, a good effort I must say from them!

The fun did not end there. 3 days after we returned from Sungkai, 6 of us took a flight to Pulau Langkawi for another short vacation! Talk about maximizing your holidays!

Philip, Hong Khai, Chun Hoe, Edmund and Jun Xiong had this very random idea of spending 3 days 2 nights in the Duty Free Land, well I so happened to hop onto the bandwagon and off we went with AirAsia to the island of booze!

We arrived safely, with no any delays in between. Phew~! We checked in at a apartment-liked hotel where Edmund’s mum has a discount in. Much to our worries, the place was actually very comfortable!

After settling down, choosing our respective rooms and placing our baggages, the bunch then decided to fulfill their primary objective, the booze. Off we drove off (after renting two cars) to Kuah Town to stock up the required ‘items’.

It is absolutely true when you hear people saying that water is actually more expensive than alcohol in Langkawi. No joke. A bottle of mineral water (500-600ml) may cost about RM2 to RM3, where as a can of beer cost less than RM2!!

We spent some time doing sight seeing in town after that. After that we went back to our apartment, and tracked along the beach to wait for sunset.

While the beach was not especially top class, but the view around the beach was magnificient!

Satisfied with our findings, we went back to our unit to shower for dinner. What happened over showering was totally shocking! What was so shocking, you asked?

Being Chun Hoe, he loves to show off his body, as he was a former swimmer. The guy was walking around the unit with his underwear (ahem -.-”) and then he walked out to the balcony. Now being us, we locked him outside. LOL!!

WTHLMAO RITE??! HAHA I KNOW! It was after much begging and wailing we were willing to let him in. I think he did attracted some stares from below, since our balcony was facing the swimming pool!

We drove out for dinner. After spotting a nearby restaurant, we went in without hesitation since I remember we were really hungry!

These guys loved to pose. Really. Don’t believe me? Check this out!

The sunset was not over when we reached the restaurant, and I gotta say, I had never seen a much beautiful sunset till today. It gave a very comfortable feeling, coupled with the breeze that time, kinda gave the whole trip a very positive feeling.

We decided to be abit adventurous after dinner, and drove all the way to Kuah Town again. This time, we head over the Eagle Square to enjoy the night view. I haven’t purchased my DSLR then, so I was having much difficulties taking sharp photos of the eagle statute, dang!

We definitely had lots of fun over the next two days. Sharing some light moments every night, toasting to stupid things, etc. We even went on to a mangrove trip, in my opinion was pretty boring but luckily we had each other’s company so it was quite the fun moment.

We also went over to Awana Porto Malai just to take a look at their fabulous resort! Much to our budget constraints, we obviously couldn’t afford to stay in a 5-star-hotel, but hey who says we can’t enter to take a look. XD

Being in Langkawi, we would be stupid if we had left without any water sports! After checking out of our unit on the last day of our planned trip, we headed over to a public beach where several water sports services were offered.

We enjoyed a few rounds of the banana boat, being swung out into the sea for a few rounds, gosh it was some adrenaline pumping moments!

Not being settled for less, we went further ahead with kayaking. We rented three kayaks and headed out into the deep blue sea. We even managed to kayak till the nearest island! The experience was extremely tiring! I couldn’t feel my arms after the journey back and forth!

We didn’t take a flight home, instead we took the ferry up to Kuala Perlis, and hopped onto a bus back to Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. Thus concluding our Langkawi escapades.

Soon, I graduated CAT in the expected timeframe, which was 1 year. Brake pedals were not stepped, I moved onto ACCA Fundamental levels that instant.

It was also at this moment, OurCoffeestops was formed and launched on the 1st of January, 2008. Pooling together our writing resources, since most of us own personal blogs before this, we have recognised the importance of keeping the ties we have bridged since the times in high school. You can read our About page for more info on that, lol.

ACCA Fundamental levels was a whole new different ball game. Given the timeframe of 6 months, the Group 2 wackos and the remnants of Group 3 have forged an unbreakable bond. It was really all thanks to them that life hasn’t been harsh and boring, and that I always have everyday to look forward to, since well if you know them personally, somehow somewhere they will do something stupid each and everyday!

Take for instance, our result day. The whole class decided to turn gothic. Yea, you heard that right. Girls started bringing their eyeliners, etc. and the guys were the models.

Thats James for you, sexy much? LOL!

Edmund joined in the fun too. In fact, Kang Wei and Chun Hoe volunteered themselves for the ‘make-up’ session! I just couldn’t bear looking at myself gothic, hence I volunteered myself as the photographer instead!

If thats not enough, we went over to pyramid for lunch after class has ended. I must salute their courage for parading themselves around the area, w00t!

To be honest, 2008 has been an eventful year. I mean, other than the silly moments with the college bunch, the Coffeestops crew had been another important pillar throughout the year.

Many new experiences happened in 2008, I joined the college editorial board, I attended a political talk, I had a best friend from college where we can talk about every other things, I got into a serious relationship, and many others.

Besides the happy moments, 2008 also housed some of the very downsides of my university life. I lost the said best friend, I slowly drifted away from the rest of the bunch, even to the extent that Coffeestops was feeling the cracks from within. Well, it was a year of ups and downs I can say but I came out of it a better person, I hope.

Trials. Yeap, I totally agree.

Heh, guess I would stop writing for episode 2 here. So yea, more about 2008 will be coming in the next post!
