Fig&Olive @ Sunway Pyramid

To be honest, a first look into the restaurant gave me a very negative perception. It’s empty. Okay fine, maybe because it’s located in a fairly isolated area within the Marrakesh, but then again it’s lunch time when I got to the place.

Since a friend has chosen the place for lunch, I guess there’s no harm trying something ‘new’.

Anyway, I did a research on Fig&Olive, so it appears they have a website.

To save you the trouble of clicking it, this is basically what you will find on the front page.

Fig & Olive is an upscale, cafe and bistro serving food items representing a blend of Mediterranean origins.

Come and indulge yourself with Fig & Olive healthy, nutritious and delicious meals. Truly and electric mix, Fig & Olive leads with dishes like sweet and savoury soups, cold & hot sandwiches, exquisite pastas, fresh salad and wholesome chicken prepared for you just the way you like it.

Our commitment is to provide consistent great food made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. Its fast and friendly services go all out to provide you with an inviting atmosphere located at convenient locations.

Right, since we were the only customers, I kinda expected the food to be served pretty quickly, however if things haven’t gotten worst yet, it took them 30-40mins for my dish to arrive. Not very friendly to those are who looking for a quick meal I must say.

The place is rather small too, so I guess they are not targetting the main market at large, perhaps some sort of word of mouth promotion strategies, I reckon’? I’m not too sure about the Fig&Olive’s at other places though.

I ordered Chicken Pesto Carbonara, a dish with spaghetti carbonara and a piece of chicken fillet covered in cheese and bolognese sauce, and some steam potatoes to go with it.

It sure does looked appealing from the pictures in the menu! Well I guess menus being menus, the real deal don’t always turn out how they looked like in pictures.

My amazing Chicken Pesto Carbonara~!

The spaghetti tasted bland but I have to compliment the chicken though. It’s definitely very flavourful, with the bolognese sauce in between the layer of cheese and the meat, not to mention the mushrooms they added into the sauce!

My friends ordered a different varieties, and according to some of them, theirs turned out surprisingly good. So yea, I guess the restaurant still has its plus points.

I gotta say, restaurants in places like Sunway Pyramid are generally pricey. So Fig&Olive is no different.

My Chicken Pesto Carbonara cost me a whopping RM18.90, to be honest I was still hungry after the meal. LOL! The others like seafood are only reasonable to be priced at a higher rate. Anyway, I guess I could give my Chicken Pesto Carbonara a 3.5/5.0 score.

Pros
: Lunch promotion @ RM14.40? Selected dishes only.

Cons: Fairly hidden spot, slow serving, and not your everyday meal considering the pricey selections.
