The Silencing of O’Hare
Introspective, Weather — By Jian Wei on July 4, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Foul Weather
If there are two things the aviation sector gets easily frantic about, they’ll be wild life and cranky weather. Even with all the jewels and marvels of Chicago, nobody can deny the weather here is seriously messed up. It can be Malaysian heat for a week (approx 31-34 Celsius) and chilly the very next (19-25 Celsius). Sometimes they all happen in the same week!
It’s like woman on PMS. You never know what to expect except that shit happens!

Crescendos of Sparks
It was just like any other Thursday morning save that the sky was unusually foul. Troops of black clouds stormed the sky above the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. It was not long before their battle cries were answered with gusty winds. Slowly, one by one the employees in the Dept of Aviation stood up, and waltzed to the adjacent window. And they just stared…..
“Today is gonna be an angry day in the airport…” muttered an engineer as his eyes swept through parking lot.
tak…TAK….TAK…TAK
Our eyes immediately shifted towards the roof above….
“What the fuck?” exclaimed the environmentalist. “Hail storm??? IN THE FUCKING SUMMER??” his voiced boomed across the room.

All Hell Broke Loose
Then all hell broke loose. It was like the symphony of an awesomely orchestrated performance: the hail storm served as the harsh prelude. Followed seamlessly by the lashing of the dropping rain. Pursued by crescendos of lighting at intermittent stops. No mortal men were strong enough to withstand the battling guns of the Gods of Weather; harshly reprimanded to remember our place – that we were only as good as mother nature allowed us to be. The second busiest airport in the world came to a stand still.
Today is gonna be an angry day in the airport…
(Note: This event took place on June 19th 2009)
