Kee Kee Bentong Chicken Rice @ Restoran Yat Yeh Hing
CoffeeTaste — By Nicholas on July 2, 2009 at 12:00 AMHaving heard about it one year ago, and also done a magazine review on the Kee Kee Bentong Chicken Rice for the college editorial board (since I was part of it back then), I finally revisited the place that houses one of the best chicken rices in Klang Valley – Kee Kee Bentong Chicken Rice @ Yat Yeh Hing, Kelana Jaya.

Located along the LDP highway, its not really a place thats easily noticeable, since its a normal looking coffee shops like the rest. Ying Wei and I reached around 1.30pm just in time for lunch, and boy never have I ever seen so many people being just there for chicken rice. The place was packed!
We were lucky there were still chickens available, though the roasted ones are all but sold out. (darn!) But no worries, we went for the steamed chickens anyways. Trust me, no regrets, the steamed chicken was much much juicier and bigger compared to other steam chicken rices (or ‘Pak Kai Fan’ in cantonese) you can find anywhere. The skin of the chicken was much yellow-er compared to the normal steamed chickens you see too.

Knowing both of us were quite the big eaters, we ordered a three-person-portion worth of chicken. The chickens come with a plate of bean sprouts of a reasonable portion, and plates of ginger chili to go with the chicken. I can’t help falling in love with the ginger chili though, its just plain awesome!

There was also soup served but it is on a self-service basis, so if you want the soup you will have to go get it yourself. The soup is definitely flavour-ful, and you will be left wanting for more. (watch out for the amount of MSG though).
While we were happily digging into our meal, we noticed there were no more chickens left hanging, and the workers were already cleaning up. Heck, it was only 2pm! Goes to prove the Kee Kee Bentong Chicken Rice sells like hot cakes! So, be there early to avoid disappointment!
Our three-person-portion cost us RM21.60, its not cheap but its not pricey either, I would like to see it as the price you pay for a great meal of chicken rice! If you’re eating it with 3 persons, it only rounds up to RM7.20 per person.
I asked one of the waiters, apparently a person’s portion is only around RM5. So yea it’s affordable!
Pros: Tender, juicy chicken meat of generous slices, great soup, fresh and delicious bean sprout, great ginger chili sauce to go with the chicken.
Cons: If you’re like me living in USJ/Subang Jaya, you gotta travel a bit, since its located along the LDP.
