SyncMaster™ 22″ Full HD wide screen monitor

SAMSUNG’s SyncMaster™ 2233SW is a high quality 22″ display with a slim design to give you the visibility you need without taking up precious desk space. The combination of its ultra fast 5 ms (GTG) response time, 15000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and 300cd/m2 brightness, giving vivid display quality.

Packaging for the Samsung 2233SW

I got myself (more precisely my mom) a Samsung 2233BW from the nearby Digital Mall at USJ 19. Some say that the prices at LowYat Plaza are the best but after taking into consideration the travel cost and time, Digital Mall might be a better choice. I got the LCD monitor at RM 569 when LowYat was selling it at RM 565 (checked through the online pricelists then). Perhaps if I bargained at LowYat, I could have gotten it for a cheaper price but the parking, time and petrol would eventually result in more spending. If you are interested in one, (perhaps I can make you so after reading) you should look out for a package like the above!

Unboxed!

First things first, the Samsung 2233SW IS NOT A 22″ LCD MONITOR. That is if you are very particular about the exact dimensions. The Samsung 2233SW is in fact a 21.5″ LCD monitor. Pixel wise, the maximum resolution the monitor can go up to is 1920 x 1080. The display ratio is 16:9. There you have it 16:9 fanatics! If you are thinking of going one step higher by buying the Samsung 2333SW, think again! It has the same resolution as the Samsung 2233SW but of course, it has better goodies. For instance, it has a 20000:1 dynamic contrast versus 15000:1 of the 2233SW. The 2333SW costs at least RM 80 more than the 2233SW. So, if you think that the extra RM 80 is justified, by all means do get the Samsung 2333SW.

What you should expect in the box

Nowadays, HD is all the rage. You can even find the HD word on the packaging! The term HD is used a lot to the extend that I thought the Samsung 2233SW could accept HDMI input. However, turns out that the monitor could only receive VGA and DVI inputs. Guess that’s why LCD TVs are much more expensive than their counterparts. On the exterior, the Samsung 2233SW looks great, smooth and sleek with the black gloss finishing. However, as soon as you get a scratch on the surface, it’ll be an eyesore. Oh, if you are having problem fixing the base onto the monitor, try the steps below.

  • Place the monitor face down onto the Styrofoam from the packaging, on a table preferably. In short, makes sure they are on a horizontal plane.
  • Push the base in while moving it left and right.
