Tenji Japanese Buffet, Solaris Mont Kiara
CoffeeTaste — By Christopher on April 1, 2009 at 12:00 AM
Experienced my second Japanese Buffet on last Thursday ( I have had my fair share of Japanese food before. It is only a matter of whether it is a buffet or not ). With no special occasion on the calender, there had to be a reason as to why I would be spending my money on the unnecessary buffet! Guess what? They had a special promotion! ( I am not sure whether they are still having it. ) Even so, I didn’t get to know about it until my sister asked me out to join the oldies from my IMPACT group.
The promotional price was RM 30 ++, contrary to its original RM 80 ++. But guess what? It’s always too good to be true! I’m not saying that the RM 30 ++ promotional price is a bluff but rather that the taxes should also be taken account into. The tax was calculated based on the non-promotional price of RM 80 ++! After all that, the amount I had to pay was RM 53.10. Burns quite a big hole in the wallet but if it is once a while, I guess it is alright.
Enough complaining about the price! Time for the food! Tenji serves a variety of Japanese food as well as other types of food for people who are not accustomed to foreign cuisines ( then why go for Tenji in the first place? ). There just too many types of food that I couldn’t try all of them. Or perhaps I was just too lazy to queue up for everything. I’ll just highlight those that I think are worthy of note. ( My taste might differ from others, so yeah. )
Coconuts
You shall go on a coconut juice diet for that night! It is sweet and refreshing! I don’t know if there is a way for you to enjoy its flesh. Well, you can actually. It just requires some brute force.
Oysters
I am not a fan of oysters but I gave it a try that night. I wanted to taste the natural flavour of the oyster. Therefore, I did not apply anything on it. Yes, no lemon, thousand island sauce and whatever is on your mind. It tasted awful to me and spoiled my appetite for a while. Next time, have something to go with the oysters!
Sashimi
I tried raw salmon and tuna. Let’s just say I ate enough of it to be determined not to ingest any for at least a month! The tuna slices seems to be oozing some red colour substance. Heard that colouring is used to give the tuna slices the redness which is an indicator of freshness ( I think. ).
Unagi ( Eel )
My favourite Japanese dish has to be the Unagi. So should you! I had enough of them to last me for a month too.
Soft Shell Crab
My first time every eating a soft shell crab. They don’t serve you the full crab but rather sections of it. A nice experience I would say.
There are many other variety of food. You will have to check it out yourself! Oh, yes. Before I forget, you would have to place your orders with the clips provided to you for food that requires cooking. The downside however is that you would usually end up with cold food. Just imagine a fully-packed Tenji with 2 cooks to do the job. The food is not served immediately after cooking too. =D
I was there from 9.30 PM to 12.30 AM. The period at which the promotion was. I would say that I maximized my RM 53.10. Get a bunch of your friends and go for a Japanese Buffet! Life is short, enjoy it while you can! ( Just don’t over enjoy =D ) The lack of pictures is proof that I was enjoying the food to forget about taking pictures.
Oh, I think you would need to make a reservation before hand too.
P/S – Happy April’s Fool everybody!
