Shanghai Day 7

On our seventh day in China, we decided to get close to nature. What better place to be than nearby Hang Zhou? We left for Hang Zhou early in the morning to beat the traffic once again. The trip took Hang Zhou took about 2 hours. Our first destination was 西湖 (West Lake). 西湖 is famous for many reasons but I was told only of the poet 蘇東坡 (Su Dongpo). 蘇東坡 was a famous poet whose work mentioned much about the willow trees. Willow trees are a common sight in Hang Zhou. Furthermore, 蘇東坡 would sit by the lakeside to receive inspirations for his poems. The beauty of 西湖 cannot be fully described by my limited choices of words. Therefore, enjoy the pictures below!

Besides 西湖, we went to the tea plantations. It was a pleasant view of the country side. However, the locals they are all out to sell tea leaves to whoever that passes by the area. One woman followed us wherever we went, acting as a tour guide just to get us to drink tea at her place. Of course she also wanted to sell us some tea leaves. Instead of conversing with her in Chinese, we decided to speak to her in Malay to avoid trouble. We established an impression that we are not Chinese speaking people and therefore that woman cannot get angry with us for ignoring her! We went to the Tea Museum later for a better experience. Bernard and Eugene bought some tea leaves there.
