Tokyo City

Wei Ling

We stayed in Peninsula Tokyo for the remaining days in Japan. The hotel is located opposite of the Imperial Palace and near the shopping world of Ginza. Since the hotel is located in a business district, the majority is very well dressed and has a good command of English.

Well then, we spent the 4th day in Tokyo with shopping of course =p We went to the Isetan departmental store in Shinjuku at first. I think we spent half of the day there. The things are very “economical”, haha… A small piece of gelatin dessert cost 210 yen/ RM7 and even though the fruits there are real sweet and all, I saw a melon which cost about 10,000 yen (RM300). My jaws nearly dropped looking at the price tag.

After that, my sister and I headed to the Sony Building, located in Ginza. The Sony Showroom’s really interesting. It has lots of new gadgets, players etc that is neither available in Malaysia nor Singapore. My sister wanted to buy one of the latest music players but unfortunately we need Japanese software to run it so, she has to forgone that player.

On the 5th day, we arranged for a guide to take us around the city. We went to several most visited sights in Tokyo such as the Sensouji Temple, Imperial Palace East Garden, Tsukiji Fish Market and the Hamarikyu Garden. We took a waterbus ride from the Hamarikyu Garden to Asakusa. It took about 45 minutes and we passed 13 momentous bridges of Tokyo.

I think we could really learn proper manners from the Japanese. They are so well-mannered; they speak very softly, they queue up to take the lift etc. Do you see Malaysians queuing up while waiting for the lift? Besides that, even though I am talking at my normal tone, it sounded like I am shouting rather than talking, for the Japanese speak so softly. Haha…

Okay, that’s pretty much all about the recent Tokyo trip. I am looking forward to visiting Japan again in the coming years. Hopefully, I can visit Hokkaido then. I would love to see the sunflowers there since sunflowers (Himawari) are grown economically in Hokkaido.

Till the next post, have a nice day everyone =p
