Hong Kong Disneyland

I woke up at 8am in the morning. Everyone had to queue up for the only toilet in the apartment. We had traditional Chinese breakfast which included porridge and vegetarian food. After that, we made our way to the Hong Kong Disneyland.

I was told by Ivan that there was a small typhoon two days ago. I was concerned about the weather. Immediately after we bought the ticket, the sky started to turn dark. Fortunately, it remained cloudy and did not rain at all. The theme of the Disneyland was Halloween. Therefore, everywhere was decorated with one of Disney’s characters (I do not know what is his name).

The first thing I wanted to see was the Disneyland Palace – the landmark of Disneyland. I have seen images of it in every Disney movie. Finally, I am able to see the palace with my own eyes!

In Hong Kong Disneyland, there are different sections. Tomorrow land, Adventure Land, The Small World and two others that I cannot recall. Sorry. The first place I visited was Adventure Land. There were few games but they were different and unique.

There were crocodiles, hippopotamuses, elephants and others animals were robots. At first, I thought that they were the real deal.

Tomorrow Land is the only place that has fast paced games. There also were others game such as Lilo and Stich and Buzz Lightyear from the Toys Story movie. “Lilo and Stich” really amazed me because we can actually communicate with Stich, a cartoon character in a very wide screen. It was also able to capture our picture and post it on the screen. Now, that’s really cool.

Then, it was the Small World. It was very beautiful inside but I did not take any pictures as I had my hands tied down with the video cam. Inside, we sat on a boat while enjoying the dolls dancing and singing in various languages.

Besides places to play and have fun, Disneyland has parades from time to time. First was High School Musical followed by Disney’s movie characters.

Although Hong Kong Disneyland is the smallest among the rest of its kind, it is just nice for a day’s enjoyment. To match their theme, they have 2 ghost houses. To be honest, it was very scary. The first one had a jungle environment while the second was in a hotel. The hotel was the scarier one. The scariest part was being the last person behind. Each group had about 14 members. To me, the first two and the last two were the guinea pigs. I do not know why everyone was scared. Instead, I was laughing by myself the same time someone (acting as a ghost or mummy) appears. Anyway, there were a lot of fun stuff which happened in both the ghost houses.

Besides that, there were a lot of places for visitors to take pictures and to sit down and relax.

Everything in Disneyland was very fun and smooth. Just that something I did not wish happened – my digital camera’s battery died. Left with no choice, I used my back up camera. The Nokia 6280. We did not wait until 9 PM for the fireworks because we wanted to go to Wong Kok for some shopping. However, we did not have enough time to shop because we wanted to go to Macau the next day. That’s when we bid farewell to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Coming up next – The Venetian Hotel (Macau)

You’re very lucky that it didn’t rain etc. It rained cats and dogs when I visited Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea. Even so, there were so many people and it took me hours to just go on a ride. Visiting HK Disneyland in Nov, looking forward to it :D

  • Christopher says:

Wei Ling, you seem to be traveling a lot these days!

  • Kok Kuan says:

Wei Ling, you seem like going to every Disneyland!

  • Wei Ling says:

Chris: Hahaha, I’m not travelling a lot, it’s just that you don’t see me around lately. When are you going to China?

KKK: Nope, I haven’t been to the Disneyland in California yet :D
