Mother’s Language
Literally.
Top student in the Chinese language subject back in her schooling days.
Pronunciation polished to perfection that at times tone deaf person like me could not distinguish from one word to another.
Studied in a strict English medium convent school for both primary and secondary education.
Queen’s English even in her sms.
Thats my mother.
BUT, when it came to the Malay language, my oh my, its a whole new story altogether.
You see, she started picking up Bahasa Melayu when my siblings and I started school.
We learnt it together.
B . O - bo
D . O . H - doh.
Everything from scratch in her early thirties.
So I would say its a major accomplishment comparing her then and current grasp of it.
However, at times some may wonder do we actually overestimate her?
Registered letter sent to the wrong address.
Mum want to pass it back to Mr Postman the next day.

Aiyoyo mother ku, apasal la lu punya Melayu machiam itu punya??
