I Have Pumped Petrol!
CoffeeSnoops — By Yao Siang on June 4, 2008 at 9:06 PMSo Yea. Almost Everyone Received The News About The Hike In Petrol Prices. My Dad Rang Me At 5.56 PM While I Was Studying For Further Maths Paper 2. He Told Me To Pump Petrol For My Car If I ‘m Free As There’ll Be An Increment In Petrol Prices. So I Logged Into LYN Forum And Found Out That It Was An Official News, Not Rumours As It Used To Be. Quickly, I Grabbed My Calculator To Check The Rough Amount That I Can Save If I Pump Today.
Usually, Full Tank For My Car Costs Around RM 105, Equivalent To 55 Liters. So 55 X RM 0.78 = RM 42.90 (Amount That I Can Save). That’s A Huge Amount! Without Wasting Anymore Time, I Drove To The Nearest Petrol Station From My House And Started Queueing Up. I Ended Up In Petronas Although My Usual Preference Is Shell. It Was Raining Cats And Dogs And The Queue Was Quite Long.

After 15 Minutes…

Another 10 Minutes Past…

And Finally

Since My Car Still Have Leftover Petrol, I Can Only Pump Up To RM 80 Or 41.67 Liters.
41.67 X RM 0.78 = RM 32.50! Yea, That’s How Much More It’ll Cost Tomorrow. Other Than That, Due To The Overwhelming Crowd, They Only Accept Cash. So I Didn’t Get To Use My Visa Electron Card.

So Have You Topped Up The Petrol For Your Car? =)

=p my car’s petrol isn’t paid by my household so there wasn’t a need to top up.
Even so, My tank is only about 45l, so I’ll save only about 30 ringgit…and I really don’t think that I would be willing to queue up for over an hour just t for that.
Haha, the jam in Kampar’s far worst. There are only 2 petrol stations in Kampar but we have so many students here. The best part is that we saw police cars queing up as well
It seems that marking up the price of petrol is a good way to mobilise the whole country. =]
It seems that cars below 2000cc will get a rebate of RM 650.
I wonder how will that amount of money will be disbursed to the people.
Let’s keep our hands crossed. =]
Looks Like There Is Massive Traffic Jams Around ANY Petrol Stations In Malaysia Right Now. To Make The Situation Worse, They Actually Queue Up Few Kilometers From The Petrol Station And Cause The Whole Road To Jam (The Queue Occupies Almost All The Lanes).. I Didn’t Know Malaysians Can Be So Patient At Times.. xD
Malaysia Boleh.
Every single road in Sunway was jam just now. It took me 1 hour drive from SEGi College to my house. Thanks to the road to Kesas Highway.
I think we should all brace for a major demonstration..
Protestors in Indonesia threw homemade bombs during the rallies. I wonder what will Malaysians do?
Kok Kuan, I heard that most of the petrol stations in Sunway ran out of petrol by 6, is it true?
actually even with the hike, the petrol in Malaysia is still cheaper than many parts of ASIA. a liter of petrol here costs RM4.30. but having said that,it all comes to the earnings and living costs. In malaysia generally the earning power is quite weak so this is going to be a reason for a massive demonstration and a opposition victory in urging for a change
We have to consider that Malaysia is a net exporter of crude oil too.
Indonesia’s oil is still cheaper than ours.
Of course, we cannot rely on the subsidy forever or our nation cannot move forward.
However like you have mentioned, our earning power is quite weak and hence the surge in prices should be done at a moderate level, little by little.
Besides that, we ourselves should strive harder to make a living and not rely on government aid.
The jam was insane at the petrol stations in USJ6 yesterday. I was caught in the middle of the hold up for 15minutes before I could possibly get to the other side.
The jam at USJ 9 was epic too.
Luckily my car had a small turning circle.
If not, I wouldn’t have made the U-turn.
Wei Ling : No la, oni the petronas opposite Pyramid is out of fuel..Others still got plenty until 11pm.
Yup. Agree with Chris and Kunil there. Malaysia earning power are still very week, a lot people will suffer from this huge increase.
Come, join the protest on July 12 infront of KLCC. w00t!
Ho ho.. And I’ll give the police a tip-off that a university college student (I’ll only tell on YOU lah, I’m so nice!) is participating, so you get arrested under the UUCA. Nyehehehe.
=D
Polis kata jangan.
protest for wat la…waste of time n money..better slp at home or work harder to earn more cash…. ^^
I see, the present government would love good citizens like you ^^
Anyway, I guess its of one’s will and the effects of the oil price hike is according to different level of income groups, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. =)
No comment on this. Later JPA tangkap me XD
But yeah. the jam was horrible. The mini bus I took veered to USJ before heading for KTM. Spent TWO HOURS in that bus.
Backbone damn sore after that.
But I think too drastic an increment. That’s why got protests. SHould have done it, like 35cents increase now, 35cents increase end of this year or early next year or something… Appease the people a bit.
