Geavity.com

I was browsing through my favourite forum when I stumbled upon http://www.geavity.com/. I took a short peek at the site and decided to sign up for it. Now, what I noticed is that the site is very new and they are mostly people from the same forum. I suspect that the website is created by one of the forumers too! Nevertheless, it is a great idea put into play.

A sneak preview
What is http://www.geavity.com/ about? Well, taking from its website, “Geavity introduces our members to our global community of photographers and encourages them to share their passions with their friends and peers. Geavity is the first social site focused on photography gears and will continue to innovate to bring together the world’s photographers”. How does http://www.geavity.com/ benefit me? From the website, “Geavity’s members can build gear profile to showcase their gears to their friends and to the world, explore and discover gears that are popular in their trusted circles of friends, influence peers by rating and discussing gears online, discuss and learn from people with similar gears and get realtime updates on what gears their friends has just added”.

Add gears!
As for me, the website has served the purpose of an inventory check list for me. Now I do not have to keep in mind the gears that I own/have owned/aiming for. It is all on the site. On top of that, I am able to get in contact with people that have gears that I am eying at for feedback and opinions. That eliminates the need of needing to ask at random who has a certain gear!
Now, the website is just new and has only a few members comparatively. But look at it this way, everything has to start from scratch. Perhaps one day it might bloom to be a world-renowned site for photographers to meet. Then, we can at least own the pride of calling ourselves “seniors”. Cheers!
