Mission “Possible”

Ever tried calling any of the emergency numbers above?

Yesterday, at exactly 9.15 p.m. I called the Fire and Rescue Department from my student hostel in Kampar, Perak. Did the hostel caught fire? Did a snake come into the house?

What happened exactly? A kitten got stuck in the drain for the pass 2 days and we can’t get it out. We tried tempting it out with anchovies, milk, bread crumbs etc but somehow it just couldn’t come out.

So my housemates suggested that we call the Fire and Rescue Department to assist us. At first, I thought they were joking with me. Calling the Fire and Rescue Dept. because of a kitten of all things? Isn’t this only in movies, TV etc?

Thanks to the kitten’s determination to keep on “miao-ing” for the last 2 days (It was getting on my nerves), I’ve decided to call 911 for help. At first, I thought they would leave this call unattended but they came about 20 minutes later.

2 officers were assigned to this case. I asked them if I am the first one calling them to rescue a cat. And thank goodness, I am not the 1st one. Some even called because a cow fell into the drain, a cat ended up on top of the roof etc.

For around 30 minutes, they tried clasping it out but they failed as well. Hmmm, maybe it’s fated for the kitten to die in the drain. They told us if the were to die inside the drain, call them again. They would use the pressure hose to wash it out for us.

Anyway, we’ve given up on the kitten.

Today, another housemate came to tell me that they suspect there’s a snake inside the storeroom. Hmmm, why are there so many problems here. I checked the storeroom 1st. I did hear a hissing sound but the room is packed with too many boxes so, I couldn’t make sure. Instead of calling 911 again, I called the security guard this time.

Less than 10 minutes later, 2 guards arrived. Although they threw the boxes out one by one but there were still no sign of a snake. And this is the best part, instead of spotting a snake; he found a cat and its 2 kitties inside the storeroom. It was the mother and siblings of the kitten that got stuck in the drain. What the???

Thank goodness I didn’t dial 911 again. Anyway, it’s pretty interesting that something like this happened during my examination period. It managed to add some spice to my currently hectic and strenuous life.

Alright, that’s all from me for now. Have a nice day readers :D
