INTI Bomb Hoax

News — By on February 19, 2008 at 12:00 AM

I was at the office area completing my mathematics homework after class ended at 2.00 PM. Finished the homework for the day and talked to friends after that. I was waiting for 4.00 PM to attend my further mathematics class at the tuition centre. Walked around a bit in the concourse and noticed two police officers present at the parking area conversing with some INTI staff. It did not bother me much. I went back into the office area, speaking to people about the presence of the two. Moments later, the siren rang and a man came into the office and directed everyone to exit the college immediately. We were confused – whether it was a fire drill or a real fire! Nevertheless, I packed my bag and exited with my belongings with me. Unfortunately, my friend left her belongings in the building – including her IC.

Evacuated

Students and staff members observed the events unfolding from across the road. Sirens were blaring as more police patrol cars entered the vicinity. A firetruck was dispatched to INTI College and if I am not mistaken, even the bomb squad was at the scene although they were not equipped with those thick armor padding which you would expect in movies. The college was cordoned off with the yellow tape bearing the words “Police line – do not cross”. Everyone took out their hand phones, cameras, any recording device and started snapping pictures and videos of the surroundings. I did not have my DSLR with me at that time but my friend had an N95 which takes decent photos. Therefore, the N95 was my ‘gun’ for the day. I did take some shots with my Nokia 6288 although the quality is not something to shout about. Everyone waited with anticipation for something to happen but we were forsaken. It was a hoax. I wonder who was the genius who came up with such a hoax! Photos were taken with the Nokia 6288. Cheers!
