In conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year, the Chinese Cultural Society of INTI College Subang Jaya organised a Chun Lian (春联) competition ( For more information on what is Chun Lian, do refer to the web ). Of course, one has to be good with writing Chinese or he/she will end up creating an abstract art. The competition kicked off at 2 PM in the basketball court under the scorching sun simply because there was not enough space to accommodate everyone. Perhaps to allow the ink to dry quicker too. Nevertheless, the participants braved the scorching sun writing Chun Lian(s).

Participants were given two pieces of paper – one white and one red. The white paper bore a Chinese New Year greeting which participants had to rewrite on the red one. The sun served as a motivation for everyone to finish up quickly while writing the best they could. By 3.00 PM everybody was done with their Chun Lian and the basketball was left deserted. The results? Sorry that I can’t provide you with the details as I was only there for a while. Cheers!

The greeting
