Pulau Langkawi 17/12/07
CoffeeTravels — By Nicholas on January 4, 2008 at 12:00 AMWe got our asses up at 9am as we had to rush all the way to Tanjung Rhu for our Mangroove Tour. After a brief wash up, we packed the bags and off we went into the cars and dashed all the way up towards our designated pick up spot. It wasn’t near I tell you, the whole journey to Tanjung Rhu from our place took about 30-45 minutes?
We didn’t have the time for breakfast, so we stopped at a petrol station along the way to grab some bread and milk for some of us, and guess what we bumped into? They were filming a hindi movie at the spot. We idled for awhile as most of us have never seen stuffs like this in close range, but soon realised we were gonna be late, and we took off.
Reached our designated spot, and we took a private boat to start our journey.
We actually regretted signing up for this tour package because honestly, there was nothing much about this trip, except for eagles, mangroves and bats .. and a bit of monkeys. The thing we actually only enjoyed was … the sea breeze. Still, since we paid for it, we might as well tried to enjoy it as much as possible.
Our first item in the package was eagle feeding. Honestly I was excited at first as I thought we would actually be feeding eagles, however it turned out that we only were able to WATCH eagle being fed. -.-” and the eagles were all too far for my Ixus 40 to get a shot of. Screw it.
Anyway, the boat moved on, and we came across the mangroves finally. A whole big area of mangroves.
We were surprisingly quiet while passing by the mangroves. A sign of boredom I guess? It was until someone started a conversation that the 6 of us got lively again.
We passed by several fish farms along the way, and they even have houses built on sea.
I kinda wondered how they got their supply of electricity, a generator perhaps?
Soon, we set foot on the entrance to the bat cave. We weren’t the only party though, tourists from different spots landed on the same area as well, I guess they took off from different jetis as most of them I didn’t recognise from the jeti in Tanjung Rhu.
We walked till we reached this cave entrance, and most started bending over to avoid hitting their heads. Edmund and Chun Hoe were the only one among us who actually had to bend over xDD.
I actually was afraid to flash my camera at them, as I didn’t want them to turn violent and fly all over the places once the flash went off. Then I saw several tourists infront of me started flashing their cameras and it was all calm. hahaha, so I started flashing mine too. =D
Gosh, the bats weren’t the main attraction of the place! We met this super cute girl!!!! Jun Xiong and I suddenly had this mutual understanding and agreement regarding the girl and we started eye-ing her LOL. She isn’t local unfortunately, we overheard her talking, obvious she’s from China. *sigh*
Monkeys were actually running freely around. Good thing they didn’t went bananas or we would have our hair torn off by them *oh t3h horror* hahahahah!
It was all sarcasm when suddenly Edmund, with his kiddy voice exclaimed, “WOW, IT’S SO EXCITING MAN! LET’S GO AGAIN!!” We couldn’t help but laughed! xDDDDDDD and so we boarded our boat again and left the area.
Another group picture! Our tour guide was kind enough to help us with the picture. =D It was 2pm and it was only obvious all of our stomachs started growling. I asked our tour guide to recommend a place to eat, and so he did. He even brought us there.
We ate at this restaurant situated above sea. The environment was pleasant and so was the atmosphere, well of course if u ignore the fact that it started raining soon after we sat down at our table haha. The food was great, reasonable price i guess. No complains about the food, I’m contented =D
Then came this couple, the boyfriend/husband is a Caucasian while the female i presume is a local lass. I guess the Caucasian was rather fascinated with the mini fish farm they had right outside the restaurant, and so a guy went over to attend to him. He’s the feeder, according to himself.
Seen a puffer fish this close? xDD The feeder actually speaks perfect english with an added foreign slang! A plus point to the Visit Malaysia 2007 Campaign i guess =D
After the meal, we finally made our way back to where we started.
A picture taken on the journey back to Tanjung Rhu.
We drove down to Kuah Town right after that. The passengers all fell asleep along the journey, fatigued I assumed. Hey, I fell asleep as well! haha. Pity them drivers, both Jun Xiong and Edmund couldn’t sleep at all.
When we arrived at Kuah Town, something unpleasant happened. The car which I’m in, with Jun Xiong being the driver, was stopped by a police road block, and dang we were issued a summon alright, for not having P stickers on the car. Edmund got away as I think he looked rather matured compared to Jun Xiong. We didn’t bother asking for a bribe, or more like we didn’t want to risk asking for a bribe.
Unhappy events aside, we went for chocolate shopping LOL.
OMG WEI, THEY WERE SOO CHEAP I SWEAR I COULD GOBBLE THEM ALL UP AND DIE OF HEART ATTACK. I actually spent a total of RM102 on chocolates, and chocolates alone. You think thats alot? Wait till you see the others’ bill. I think I spent the less among the others -.-”
The guys took the opportunity to buy some liquor to bring back home as each of us were entitled to a total of 1.5l tax free after 48hrs in Langkawi. I didn’t get any as my dad told me not to, so I gave my portion to Edmund.
We went back to Perdana Beach soon after to unload the chocolates into the refrigerator and played a few rounds of card games before getting bathed to go out for dinner. Dinner was at Pantai Cenang, and we were just walking around the area to see if there was any clothings or shorts or whatever to buy.
My Ixus battery died, and the charger was back in the hotel room. -.-” well anyway, its not like the camera can take shots without the pic getting blurred in poor lightings haha, unless you opt for flash.
So after hanging out in Awana Porto Malal for a brief moment, we all went back to the hotel room and spent the whole night having guy talks in the living hall before going to bed. I guess that concludes our 2nd day in Langkawi =D
